How to act if the enemy tries to recruit you
Share
Given the increased risk of adolescents being recruited online, we are sharing tips on how to keep them safe.
- Teach children online safety rules. Explain why it is important not to share personal information and to be cautious when communicating with strangers.
- Stay alert to suspicious contacts. Pay attention to changes in a child’s behaviour, their online interactions, and new contacts.
- Develop critical thinking. Explain how to distinguish reliable sources of information from questionable ones and how to verify facts.
- Explain the action plan. Make sure children know what to do if they receive messages from suspicious contacts or face attempts at manipulation. Emphasise the importance of contacting parents or teachers, and, if necessary, reaching out to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) or the police — in particular via the SBU chatbot or by calling 0 800 501 482.
- Build open and trusting relationships. A sense of support and trust creates a safe environment for open dialogue.
